Three Teaspoons

16 × 20 in Oil

Three Teaspoons was a painting I simply had to create, and I’m thrilled that the photographer generously gave me permission to do so. How fitting that these precious baby spoonbills are “teaspoons”!

Moments like this, captured in nature, are such a blessing for us to enjoy. I’m absolutely fascinated by spoonbills—their beauty, character, and tender family moments—and that fascination naturally finds its way into my artwork.

This painting follows my Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare so it seemed fitting to name her Cleopatra. The reflections is what captured my interest. The mirror image and water ripples felt poetic, hence the literature names. I’m completely fascinated with the Rosette Spoonbill.

A moment of serene connection unfolds as a flock of roseate spoonbills rests upon a weathered log, their soft pink plumage mirrored in the calm, reflective waters of a sunlit swamp. Dappled light filters through the lush greenery, illuminating the tranquil scene.
